ADVANCED OPEN WATER SCUBA DIVER COURSE

Our Intermediate Course for Graduating
Open Water SCUBA Diver Students.

After acquiring skills in a Lighthouse open water course, students are encouraged to enroll shortly thereafter in this course, which will expand their diving horizons and confidence by introducing them to a variety of underwater activities. Students will do three dives in the core specialties of deep diving, night diving and underwater navigation, and have their choice of two other specialty dives, including drysuit, nitrox, boat diver, drift diver, digital photographer, search, recovery and salvage diver, wreck diver, DPV (underwater scooter) diver, and naturalist/marine identification, among others.  This course allows you to expand your diving comfort zone in a variety of conditions, under the safe supervision of your instructor. This is a fun, moderately challenging course!

Prerequisites:  Open Water Scuba Diver certification from any internationally-recognized SCUBA certification agency.

Required materials:  Advanced Education kit (academic materials), underwater writing slate, two dive lights (one larger Primary light and one smaller Back-up light), underwater compass (wrist, console-mounted, or retractor-mounted).  Students are encouraged to have their own SCUBA gear, but basic SCUBA rental package for course (wetsuit, BCD, regulator, cylinders, and weights) is available for $70.

Upgrades: - Drysuit Orientation/Certification upgrade for only $150, including drysuit
                  rental for course.
                    - Nitrox certification upgrade for only $125.

RESCUE DIVER COURSE

Most students say this is the best dive course they have ever taken!

This challenging course not only prepares a diver to execute both surface and underwater searches and rescues, but more importantly, teaches the diver to recognize and prevent those situations that might make a rescue necessary.  This is recommended for all divers as a core part of your continuing education.  You will attend class lectures, at least one pool skill session, and a weekend of diving.

Prerequisites:  Advanced Open Water Diver certification and a minimum of 20 dives.  Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required for this course (available through Lighthouse), and Oxygen Provider certification is strongly recommended.

Required Materials:  Rescue Education kit, underwater slate, safety surface marker, Dive Alert. Students are encouraged to have their own SCUBA gear, but basic SCUBA rental package for course (wetsuit, BCD, regulator, cylinders, and weights) is available for $70.

NITROX (EANx) DIVER

Oxygen-enriched air drastically increases your ability to dive longer at the same depths, decreases surface interval times and affords many more multi-day dives! One full day of lecture and two dives (one each with 32% and 36% mixtures), this course is sometimes offered as two 4-hour lectures and the dives on the third day.  Prerequisite: Basic Open Water. 

Prerequisites:  Open Water Scuba Diver certification from any internationally-recognized SCUBA certification agency.

Required Materials: NAUI/PADI/SDI Nitrox Student Kit. Students are encouraged to have their own SCUBA gear, but basic SCUBA rental package for course (wetsuit, BCD, regulator, cylinders, and weights) is available for $70.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE

Designed for divers who are required to gain these certifications for the Divemaster rating, this is also highly recommended for any diver who wishes to be better prepared for dealing with emergencies. Including O2 Administration and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Training. A full-day course.

DAN O2 PROVIDER

A course sanctioned by the DIVER'S ALERT NETWORK, this one-day course properly trains you on the correct and most effective methods for administering oxygen to a victim of any diving accident. Highly recommended for leadership and rescue personnel.

DRYSUIT DIVING ORIENTATION

Whatever you do, do not just purchase a drysuit and try it out on your own in the open water environment. Our course includes a 2-hour lecture, confined (pool) orientation, and two open water dives. This is the only safe way to get started with drysuit diving.
Can be taken in conjunction with the Open Water Course. 

Prerequisite or Concurrent: Basic Open Water.

Required Equipment: Students are encouraged to have their own SCUBA gear, but basic SCUBA rental package for course (drysuit package (includes under garment, hood and bag), BCD, regulator, cylinders, and weights) is available for $140. Rental drysuit package is also available by itself for $85.00.

Course fee: $150.00


DRYSUIT SPECIALTY

This class includes pool training, classroom session and 2 open water dives plus certification

Prerequisite: Basic Open Water.

Required Equipment: Students are encouraged to have their own SCUBA gear, but basic SCUBA rental package for course (drysuit package (includes under garment, hood and bag), BCD, regulator, cylinders, and weights) is available for $140. Rental drysuit package is also available by itself for $85.00.

NIGHT DIVING

Many people enjoy night diving even more than day diving due to the fact that a totally different group of creatures are awake and active at night, including the Giant Pacific Octopus, the largest species of octopus in the world that makes its home right here in Puget Sound! Prerequisite: Advanced Open Water. 

Required equipment: one primary dive light and one secondary (back-up) dive light. Includes 2 night dives.

WRECK DIVER

Learn about shipwrecks, hull composition and integrity, hazards and safe wreck diving techniques. Then dive at least two different wrecks (external survey dives only) in Puget Sound. 

Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water.

Additional costs:
boat charter fee $65.00 to $80.00 if a charter is utilized in this course.

ADVANCED WRECK DIVING

Learn how to safely make penetration (internal) dives with the hulls of wrecks.  Make two penetration dives on a full-size sunken ferry in Puget Sound! 

Prerequisite: Wreck Diver

Required equipment: wreck line reel

Additional costs: boat charter $65.00 - $80.00

DEEP DIVING

Want more than the taste of deep diving you experienced in the Advanced Open Water course? Here it is! Make a total of three no-decompression deep dive to a maximum depth of 130 feet under safe and controlled conditions! A required certification for many sites you may want to dive around the world in years to come, this course is also a requirement for the Wreck Diving and Decompression Technical Diving courses. 


Required text: inquire, as titles may change. 

Required equipment:
100 SCF or 120 SCF tank, 30 SCF pony tank and second primary regulator. If using a HP tank, a DIN adapter is also required for your first primary regulator. Double tanks are also allowed for this course, which is the ideal set-up for Deep Diving!

SEARCH AND RECOVERY DIVER

At some point in your diving career, you or your buddy will either loose or find something underwater and the knowledge and skills you gain in the Search and Recovery Diver course will help you when you do!

In your Search and Recovery Diver course you'll learn about underwater navigation using natural and compass techniques; the problems, methods, equipment, hazards, and safety procedures regarding limited visibility diving; proper search methods and techniques; and how to handle light salvage or recovery, including rigging and knot tying.

Required equipment:
The basic scuba diving equipment, an underwater compass and a lift bag.

UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY

Learn of to effectively capture some of those awesome sights you are seeing as a diver that can be shared with your land-locked friends and family members! Taught over two consecutive weekends.

EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST

Learn a whole lot more about your own diving equipment than you got from the material that came with it! A lot of helpful information is included in this one evening lecture that will enable you to make your equipment last and perform longer without specialized work by a service technician. Note: this course does not replace the need to have your regulator serviced on an annual basis as recommended by the manufacturer, but will enable you to perform a lot of preventative maintenance yourself.

DECOMPRESSION DIVING

One of NAUI's technical diving courses, this course will actually train you for decompression diving, exceeding the limits established for recreational sport divers. Divers will make a series of 4 mandatory decompression dives over one weekend. Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water, Night Diving, Drysuit Diver, Deep Diver and Rescue Diver. 

Required equipment: Double steel tanks (100's or 120's), pony tank with extra primary regulator and drysuit.

MASTER SCUBA DIVER

This course is the highest non-instructional rating that NAUI offers. A prerequisite for the Divemaster rating, it is also recommended for any diver wanting to expand his or her knowledge of diving to the highest level! A very comprehensive and challenging written examination, 5 required dives and 3 elective dives are included. 

Required textbook: NAUI Master Scuba Diver Student Kit.

Course fee: $350.00

Scheduling for this course will be arranged with an instructor through Lighthouse on a case-by-case basis

DIVEMASTER

Required for any diver wanting to eventually progress to the rating of Instructor. This course will give you extensive experience in demonstrating underwater skills to students, giving lectures, taking students on underwater tours, pre and post dive briefings, etc. A rigid series of water-skill evaluations, timed exercises and written examinations. Prerequisites: Rescue Diver, Master Scuba Diver, CPR and First Aid prior to actual certification as a Divemaster. A Divemaster candidate may work on skills for Divemaster AND all prerequisites simultaneously as per such an arrangement with a specific instructor. This program (including all prerequisites) normally takes 6-8 months to complete if a candidate is able and willing to commit to an average of 2 evenings a week and at least 2 weekends per month. 

Required materials: wrist slate. 

Required textbooks:
Scuba Instructor's Guide, NAUI S & P Manual. 

Additional costs:
$120.00 registration fee to NAUI upon completion. 
Successful candidates must also carry insurance if actively working through Lighthouse as a Divemaster. Inquire with any NAUI Instructor for Details.

NAUI ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

Having focused your energy on the physical and practical demands of the NAUI Divemaster course, the NAUI Assistant Instructor course goes more in depth with educational experience in the classroom capacity and leading courses both in confined water and open water environments. 

Highly recommended for any NAUI Divemaster who wants more experience before becoming an Instructor.

Become a leader of the the oldest certifying agency in the U.S. that has consistently maintained the highest standards, producing the best-trained divers in the world today since 1960!  Already possessing the knowledge of an instructor via the NAUI Master Scuba Diver course combined with practical experience via the NAUI Divemaster course, the ITC trains you HOW TO EFFECTIVELY TEACH this material to students.  Our three-phase Instructor Training Course is usually scheduled over 6 long weekends (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) and normally offered 2 times per year but can be given more often if scheduled with an ITC Course Director.  

Also requires registration with NAUI ($140.00) and insurance through NAUI for active teaching status.
