About Us
Established in 1972, Lighthouse Diving Center is committed to offering the finest selection of new and pre-owned equipment for commercial diving, recreational scuba, snorkeling, and freediving in Western Washington. We also provide top-quality dive training to ensure you get the most out of your gear for years to come.
History
Harry Truitt started teaching scuba courses out of the back of his ford van in 1968.
After receiving new orders from the air force, Harry came to Washington’s McChord Air Force Base, now JBLM. He met Joe Laburdi and they decided to create Puget Sound Lighthouse which later became Lighthouse Diving Center.
The original shop was in Renton and couple years later, the Lake City way store was opened.
Lynnwood store off of 196th Street was opened in 1983 became the headquarters for Lighthouse for 39 years.
In 2022, Lighthouse Diving Center moved to its current 13718 31st avenue facility merging both the Lake City Way location and the Lynnwood location to one super center located of Mukilteo Speedway in Lynnwood.

As the founder of Lighthouse Diving Center in 1972. Harry has become a prominent figure in the diving world. He has helped companies develop a lot the dive equipment in the industry. Even today, he still leads trips to amazing dive destinations.

Austin began diving at the age of 11 and has been a fixture at the family dive shop ever since. Over the years, he’s developed a deep expertise in diving equipment and a growing passion for spearfishing and freediving. Known for his technical knowledge and laid-back style, Austin is always ready to help fellow divers gear up—usually with solid advice and occasionally with a joke or two.
